Janice Lowry's Inspiring Illustrated Life

Contributed by Melissa Kojima

Janice Lowry attended one of the best schools for illustration in the country, the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Afterward, she went on to create amazing little assemblage art pieces and illustrations for commercial and fine art usage. She also kept journals of her life which were filled with drawings, collages and writings. The collection of journals, consisting of over 100 books, are now in the Smithsonian Archives of American Art.

She is having a retrospective of her art in Orange County at the Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana, CA.  100 works of her art will be on display and a book release party will also be a part of the exhibition. The book has over 250 full color pages and is titled, The Curiosities of Janice Lowry.  It also includes writings by Mark Ryden, one of the top pop surrealist painters.
