Artist Carmen Ortiz de Urbina is a Spanish self-taught artist born in Bilbao. She is quite old fashioned in her process; everything starts with some pencils and a good photo. Carmen enjoys drawing people whom she admires or that catch her eye - could be actors, musicians or anyone really. She works toward capturing features, expressions, personalities and light. Sometimes her illustrations are digitally enriched with a little touch of color.
Carmen's pencil portraits have appeared in several magazines and blogs and she's taken part in numerous exhibitions. Next July, Carmen will have the pleasure of participating in the Zerostigmata AMFO Benefit Collective 7 Expo. The goal of this expo is to help families affected by Sandhoff disease and Tay-Sachs disease. Recently, Carmen has participated in the project, Walking Gallery.
A collection of Carmen's work titled, Black and White, can be purchased online at ISSUU.
